While acetone is an effective solvent, we strongly recommend that it not be used to thin resin or gel coat as it can lead to added pinholes or premature yellowing. Acetone is highly flammable and will evaporate rapidly and should be handled much like gasoline. When not in use, keep containers tightly sealed at all times.
