Styrene can be added to gel coats and resins to thin them for various applications. It is used to thin gel coats to aid with better flow spray applications. It will also help resins cure faster when vacuum bagging. It will not cause the yellowing of gel coats.
- Thins resins and gel coats
- Increase gel coat flow when spraying
- Promotes cross-linking of the resin and catalyst
- Reduces brush marks when brushing
PRO TIP
Adding too much styrene can cause the gel coats and resins to become brittle once they have cured after being catalyzed with MEKP. We recommended that you test your resin/gel coat before using products thinned with styrene.
